Milan showcases Polish cinema

Italian audiences will be given an opportunity to see a selection of the most representative Polish film productions of recent years at the European Youth Film Festival (based in Toruń, Poland) that will be hosted by the Esterni association in Milan from 23-25 May.
Films by renowned Polish directors like Andrzej Wajda, Roman Polanski and Krzysztof Kieslowski as well as features and short films produced over the last three years. The selection includes a number of award-winning titles like Katedral (Cathedral) by Tomasz Baginski, nominated for an Oscar in 2003 in the short animated film category ; Męska sprawa (Men’s Business) by Sławomir Fabicki, nominated for an Oscar in 2002 in the short film category; Moje pieczony kurczaki (My Baked Chickens) by Iwona Siekierzyńska, winner of a Gold Plaque at the Chicago International Television Awards 2003; Zmruż oczy (Squint) by Andrzej Jakimowski, winner of a special FIPRESCI Award at IF Mannheim- Heidelberg 2002.
Antychrist by Adam Guziński, winner of the Grand Prix at the Bilbao Film Festival in 2002 and Człowiek Magnes (The Tycoon) by Marcin Wrona, a winner at New York's Tribeca Film Festival in 2002.
Two directors, Sławomir Fabicki and Andrzej Jakimowski will be at the festival to meet with journalists and members of the public and an exhibition of Polish film posters painted by celebrated artists like Pagowski, Starowiejski and Olbinski for the films of Wajda, Kijowski and Marczewski, is being organised to run concurrently with the festival proper.
