Mt Athos screens in Athens

Passages to Heaven, a documentary by Yiannis Lambrou that is currently being programmed at the Andora Cinema, part of the Greek Film Centre network, has attracted some 3000 filmgoers to date.
The film is about the everyday life, the vision and faith of the monks who inhabit Mount Anthos and it won the Golden Knight award for best documentary at the 2000 edition of the Moscow International Film Festival and opened the CRECET Ethnographic Festival in France.

Describing his film, Lambrou said, “The Byzantine painting of Theofanis, Panselinos and other artists and the hymns sung on Mt. Athos, create a special spiritual and aesthetic pleasure. As filmmakers, we search for unconventional pictures and we found them on Mt. Athos.”
