In the middle of its eight-week shooting schedule in Denmark and Sweden, Danish director Thomas Vinterberg’s The Commune [+see also:

 has become a hot ticket for Danish international sales agency TrustNordisk, which signed the first contract for the film with France’s Le Pacte during the AFM.

Since then, the film has been licensed to the UK (Artificial Eye), Germany/Austria (Prokino Filmverleih), the Benelux (September Film), Greece/Cyprus (Seven Films), the Czech Republic/Slovakia (Film Europe), the former Yugoslavia (MCF Megacom Film), Poland (Gutek Film), Brazil (California Filmes) and Hungary (Vertigo Media).

“The massive interest from international distributors has been overwhelming and once again confirms that Vinterberg is one of the most highly acclaimed directors of our time. worldwide. 

The Sisse Graum Jørgensen production for Zentropa Entertainments, with Denmark’s Toolbox, Sweden’s Zentropa and regional film centre Film i Väst, and Dutch outfits Zentropa and Topkapi Films, will be released in Scandinavia by Nordisk Film Biografdistribution, with a Danish premiere in autumn 2015.

In addition, Danish director Kenneth Kainz’s The Shamer’s Daughter [+see also:

– the first film from Danish author Lene Kaaberbøl’s bestselling fantasy series The Shamer Chronicles – has also been keeping TrustNordisk busy, selling to the Middle East (Gulf Film), Russia-CIS, (Daro Film), Estonia (EstinFilm), the former Yugoslavia (Cinemania Group), Thailand (Sahamongkol Film International), Malaysia, Brunei and Vietnam (Rain Film).

With a Scandinavian cast comprising Peter Plaugborg, Jakob Oftebro, Søren Malling, Maria Bonnevie and Stina Ekblad, the Nina Lyng and Eva Juel Hammerich production for Nepenthe Film is now in post, scheduled for a local release on 26 March 2015 through Nordisk Film Biografdistribution. “It once again confirms that Scandinavian genre films are currently in high demand among international distributors,” remarked Ennis.
