) will be competing for the Best Actress Award, while Javier Gutiérrez (Marshland), José Sacristán (Magical Girl), Karra Elejalde (Spanish Affair) and Raúl Arévalo (Marshland) have been selected among the actors; the latter was actually reading out the names and could hardly conceal his joy.

Enrique Cerezo, president of EGEDA (an organisation that is celebrating its 25th anniversary), addressed those present and criticised the “genuine Atraco a las tres (Robbery at 3 o’clock) that the Spanish film industry is being subjected to at the moment”, a nod to one of the most famous titles by the legendary filmmaker José María Forqué. However, he reminded the audience that, in spite of the government’s attitude, the Spanish film industry is still brimming with talent.

In addition, Cerezo announced that the EGEDA board had, for the first time ever, decided to hand its Gold Medal “to a company, a key player in promoting and circulating our films: the Spanish public broadcaster Radiotelevisión Española (RTVE), because without the involvement of the TV companies, the production cogs grind to a halt: this year, RTVE is supporting over 50 projects,” he concluded.
