German director Wim Wenders has been nominated for the Oscars. His latest film, The Salt of the Earth [+see also:

film profile], a French production about Brazilian photographer and explorer Sebastião Salgado, which he directed together with Juliano Ribeiro Salgado, is vying for the prize in the category of Best Documentary Feature. The film had its world premiere in Un Certain Regard at last year's Cannes Film Festival. This is the third Oscar nomination for Wenders.
His film will be competing with the US-German co-production Citizenfour [+see also:
