The 35th London Critics’ Circle Film Awards unspooled on Sunday and US films were the clear winners this year. There was however some comfort for European cinema as Leviathan [+see also:

Boyhood continued its dream awards season by winning Film of the Year, Director of the Year for Richard Linklater and Supporting Actress of the Year for Patricia Arquette. Similarly, Michael Keaton, Julianne Moore and JK Simmons continued their stellar seasons by winning acting honours for Birdman, Still Alice and Whiplash respectively. Notable British absentees from the honours board were The Imitation Game [+see also:
