, will start shooting on location in Belgrade and Pancevo on 25 March. The horror film is being directed by Serbia's best-known genre filmmaker, Dejan Zečević (The Enemy [+see also:

), and is produced by Viktorija Film's Marko Jocić and Milan Todorović.The production company's horror movies Zone of the Dead and Killer Mermaid have been popular with genre aficionados around the world, as well as being the most widely internationally distributed (on DVD and through VoD platforms) Serbian films of recent years.

Pitched as “Event Horizon meets The Wicker Man”, The Rift tells the story of what happens in an Eastern Serbian village when a NASA shuttle crashes, the astronaut disappears, and Serbian and American agents assigned to the case realise that the spaceship brought back something that does not belong on Earth.

Ken Foree, who achieved cult status through many US horror films after his breakthrough in 1978’s Dawn of the Dead, and who had a role in Zone of the Dead, will star alongside Slovenian actress Katarina Cas (The Guard [+see also:

). Rounding off the cast is the living legend of American television Monte Markham.

The film will be co-produced by Korean company More in Group – which worked with Viktorija Film on the production of The Tenor Lirico Spinto, in which Belgrade stood in for Saarbrucken – Serbian companies Talking Wolf Productions, Digitalkraft and Media Plus, and Slovenia's BBO Star.
