The Lobster is funded by the Irish Film Board and developed and produced by Ireland’s Element Pictures in association with Scarlet Films, Faliro House, Haut et Court, Lemming Film and Limp, and with the participation of Film4, Protagonist Pictures, the Netherlands Film Fund, Greek Film Centre, the British Film Institute, Eurimages, Canal+, Ciné+, the CNC’s Aide aux Cinémas du Monde, Ministère des Affaires Étrangères et du Développement International, Institut Français, and the support of the MEDIA Programme of the European Union.

Ireland’s Minister for Arts Heather Humphreys said, “Getting selected for Official Competition at Cannes is a much coveted endorsement of a film’s high quality and can, of course, help to boost commercial success. This film is also a great example of what can be achieved through international co-productions.”

Irish producer Ed Guiney of Element Pictures said, “Yorgos is one of the most visionary film-makers working today and The Lobster is a profoundly moving, brilliantly funny and disturbing meditation on modern love.”
