by Oscar-winning Italian director Paolo Sorrentino, which will be screened on Wednesday 20 May in the Official Competition at Cannes, the international sales team of French group Pathé will have a major advantage at the Film Market of the 68th Cannes Film Festival (13-24 May 2015), although only a few countries and regions are still available for purchase (China, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Indonesia, Latin America and South Africa).

There are two more films that stand out in Pathé’s line-up, both of which will have their global premieres on the Croisette, albeit in different sections. First up is Masaan by Indian director Neeraj Ghaywan (produced by the producers of The Lunchbox [+see also:

by French filmmaker Thomas Bidegain (see news article) in the Director’s Fortnight (which has already been purchased for France, the Benelux countries, Hungary, Greece and Switzerland).

At the Cannes Film Market, Muriel Sauzay’s team will start pre-sales for Viceroy's House [+see also:

 by British filmmaker Gurinder Chadha (Bend it Like Beckham [+see also:

), a film which is currently in the pre-production stages starring Hugh Bonneville and Gillian Anderson. The story is set in 1947 at the Delhi palace of vice-king and governor-general of India Lord Mountbatten.  Whilst negotiating the independence of India at the palace (where he lives with his family), a conflict (with grave consequences) breaks out among his 5000 servants (hindus, muslims and sikhs).

 by Jamel Debbouze (with 1.58 million admissions in France in three weeks) and it is safe to say that Pathé has a very solid line-up, which will no doubt do well at Cannes.
