Co-production agreement signed by Hungary and France
- The new agreement, signed by both countries on 6 July, lowers the minimum co-production share to 20%, as against the previous figure of 30%
On 6 July, a film co-production agreement was signed in Budapest by the Hungarian and French governments. It replaces the previous agreement, which was signed in 1970. The works created under this new agreement will be considered as national works and will have access to the benefits available in each country. The agreement also stipulates that the proportion of the respective contributions by the co-producers will be able to vary between 20% and 80%, unlike the previous agreement, which included a minimum share of 30%.
The implementation of the agreement will be handled by the CNC and the NMHH. Interestingly, a mixed committee, comprising experts from each country, will meet every other year in order to examine such aspects as the balance between each country’s contributions.
