10/07/2015 - For three Mondays running the new distribution company will be holding a mini series on the American underground scene. Kicking things off is Banksy Does New York

Banksy Does New York by Chris Moukarbel, on the British street artist, is the first of three documentaries being distributed by Wanted Cinema in UCI Cinemas. The new Milan-based distribution company, which was set up to give Italian audiences high-quality experimental films that use new forms of expression, will be running a mini series on the New York underground scene for three consecutive Mondays. The films will be shown in six UCI theatres in major Italian cities: Rome, Turin, Florence, Bologna, Verona and Genoa.

The first film, Banksy Does New York, produced by HBO, will be shown on Monday 13 July. Then, on Monday 20 July, it will be the turn of Nas: Time is Illmatic, directed by One9. This documentary, on one of the most famous of American rappers, has been described by Time magazine as “a love letter to Illmatic”, Nas’ debut record that was released back in 1994. It was premiered on the opening evening of the Tribeca Film Festival in 2014.

On Monday 27 July the last film will be shown, Wild Style, by Charlie Ahearn (1983), which returns to the big screen in a remastered version. This documentary is a real cult film in the hip-hop world. Legendary graffiti artist plays Zoro, one of the biggest and most elusive writers in the city. The film features breakdancing and freestyle sequences, local MCs and turntabling by DJ Grandmaster Flash, one of the founding fathers of the genre.
