Adapted by the directorial duo from Bastien Vivès’ comic book of the same name, the story immerses us in the world of ballet through the rise of Polina, a promising eight-year-old ballerina who, at the beginning of the 1990s, is accepted into the prestigious school of professor Bojinsky in Moscow; Bojinsky prepares his dancers for the Bolshoi Theatre, which the young girl joins at the age of 18, following a very intense training regime. There she will meet a French dancer who will open her eyes to love, but also a new, more contemporary, dancing technique that will completely alter the course of Polina’s life.

Produced by Didier Creste and Gaëlle Bayssière for Everybody On Deck, Polina is co-produced by France 2 Cinéma and TF1 Droits Audiovisuels. Having also been pre-purchased by Canal+ and supported by the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, among others, the feature will be distributed in France by UGC and is being sold internationally by TF1 International.
