film profile] by Donato Rotunno has just been selected to represent Luxembourg in the race for the nominations for the 2016 Oscar for Best Foreign-language Film.
Adapted from Tullio Forgiarini’s novel Amok, Baby(A)lone is a co-production between Luxembourg (Iris Productions) and Belgium (Iris Film), starring teenage actors Joshua Defays and Charlotte Elsen along with Etienne Halsdorf, Gintare Parulyte and Fabienne Hollwege.
The selection committee included Nicole Dahlen (Luxembourg Film Museum), Guy Daleiden (National Fund for Audiovisual Production), Claude Lahr (LARS), Paul Lesch (Luxembourg University), Carlo Thiel (ALTA), Viviane Thill (CNA) and Laurent Witz (ULPA).
Luxembourg took home its first ever Oscar – in the Animated Short Film category – in 2014 with Mr Hublot, which was directed by Laurent Witz and Alexandre Espigares.
The announcement of the shortlisted nominees is scheduled for 14 January next year, and the 88th Academy Awards ceremony will be held on 28 February.
