NonStop Entertainment sails the independent seas again

Nordic and Baltic distributor NonStop Entertainment, which Time Warner’s Turner Broadcasting System acquired five years ago, has been sold to its distribution and acquisition director, Jakob Abrahamsson, and its original co-founder, CG Andersson, who took over the Stockholm-based operation last week (21 August).

“We leave NonStop as a business in great shape, while we at Turner will focus on our core strengths,” said Ian McDonough, senior vice-president and managing director of Turner Broadcasting Northern Europe.

“We’ve had a great run under the Turner umbrella with some of our biggest successes, and we are now looking forward to sailing the independent seas again,” added Abrahamsson, who was head of distribution with “the old” NonStop from 2000 onwards, then took over as director of distribution and acquisition with “the new” NonStop in 2013.

NonStop Entertainment was part of the Millennium Media Group, including NonStop Sales, NonStop Television (13 channels in 53 countries) and Prime Text International, which was founded by Ignas Scheynius and his partner CG Andersson in 1998. Turner purchased the group in 2010.

Both Scheynius and Andersson stayed on at the company after the take-over, Scheynius as vice-president of Turner Broadcasting Nordic and Baltics – a job he left after Turner decided to close NonStop Sales in 2013 – and Andersson as managing director of the Nordic and Baltic distribution outfit.

NonStop Entertainment annually distributes around 40 new titles in the Nordic and Baltic markets – recent releases include Russian director Andrey Zvyagintsev’s Leviathan [+see also:
