Written by the director, the story starts off in 1959: a man found guilty of a double murder is sent to the guillotine. From the bottom of the basket that has just caught it, the dead man’s head starts talking: everything had been going so well! He was a much-admired priest, a wonderful lover, and his earthly paradise seemed never-ending...
Produced by Paolo Branco for Alfama Films for a budget of €1.79 million, Mad Love received backing from the CNC’s advance on receipts. Distribution in French theatres will be taken care of by Alfama from 16 September; the firm is also managing the title’s international sales.
