De Ordening in pre-production

by

Dutch director Pieter Kuijpers is preparing a film about Florentine Rost van Tonningen, the widow of a Socialist NSB party politician. De Ordening is based on the eponymous book by Kees van Beijnum about a young woman journalist asked to put the papers of an elderly lady in order. The old woman is the widow of one of the NSB party’s leaders. This will be the follow-up to Kuijpers’ Van God Los, currently being programmed in the Netherlands and confirms the director’s interest for the thin line that separates fact from fiction. Even if the widow of Rost Van Tonningen is never mentioned by name, the parallels between the woman and the main character of the film are numerous. Rost Van Tonningen was the chief editor of an official party newspaper and during the German occupation, he headed up a Dutch bank. He committed suicide after the liberation of Holland in Scheneningen prison but his widow never subscribed to that theory and decided to rehabilitate her dead husband’s reputation.
The film stars Angela Schijf, Roeland Fernjout and Dora van der Groen.
