For the second consecutive year, the Cinemagic in Vienna will host the International Youth Film Festival from 16-21 May.
The main themes of this year’s films are friendship, love and sexual initiation, the family and the future and the festival will open with the Finnish road movie, One-Way Ticket to Mombasa by Hannu Tuomainen. The programme includes the Austrian premieres of five international features, a documentary about Iranian women, animated films and a selection of Austrian short films.
Five of the six films in competition are directorial debuts from the UK, Belgium and Sweden and a nine-man jury of young people will decide the winner. Concurrently with the festival proper is a series of public meetings with Austrian filmmakers.
