CANNES 2003 Films

Lattuada’s Adolescents

by

Alberto Lattuada’s Dolci inganni, restored to its original glory by the The Bologna Film Library will be screened in the Restored Prints Section at Cannes on Monday 19 May.
This is the latest of a series of 1960s Italian titles being worked on by the Immagine Ritrovata Lab and follows last year’s screening of Ermanno Olmi’s Il Posto. Dolci inganni is the story of a day in the life of Francesca, a high-school student of 16 (played by Catherine Spaak), from an upper middle-class Roman family, and focuses on her sentimental education and her passion for an architect in his mid-thirties who unfortunately fails to live up to Francesca’s expectations.
