A Canadian partnership
In the context of the Bavarian film week in Montreal (15-24 May 2003), organised by the Bavaria Film & TV Fund and the Goethe Institute, BFF director Dr Klaus Schaefer signed a bilateral co-operation agreement with Pierre Lafleur, president of the regional support fund, SODEC (Societé de Developpement des Entreprises Culturelles). The main goal of this agreement is to consolidate the existing relations in the areas of film and TV production.
The signed agreement includes a regular exchange of information on film policies, guidelines and programmes. Contact between producers will be supported and encouraged. Furthermore, reciprocal distribution of films in both countries will be facilitated. These measures are designed to strengthen mutual cultural understanding between the regions.
The signing of the agreement was followed by the signing of a co-production contract that covers a project entitled Lilly the Witch produced by Munich-based animation company, Trixter. This film received Euros550,000 from the BFF and is co-produced by Ireland’s Magma Films and Quebec-based Vivavision.
