Glasgow to engage with industry
- Festival announces several new strands
The Glasgow Film Festival (GFF, 17-28 February 2016), hitherto solely an audience facing event, will introduce a new industry programme in its next edition. The GFF Industry Focus (24-25 February) will bring together international filmmakers, funding bodies and industry insiders for a two-day seminar within the festival programme which the festival hopes will offer benefits to Scotland’s film and television industry, and to visiting filmmakers from around the world.
The GFF is also introducing new programme strands, including ‘Dream Teams on the Silver Screen’ that will focus on classic Hollywood double acts like Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Doris Day and Rock Hudson, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers, and Robert Redford and Paul Newman. Another new strand ‘Roads To The South’ will celebrate some of the work currently being created in Argentina, which has seen a renaissance in the past two decades.
Festival Co-Director Allan Hunter said, “‘Dream Teams on the Silver Screen’ celebrates the very finest Hollywood duos, individuals who made cinema history together in unforgettable classics. Meanwhile, the international reaction to films like 2009’s The Secret In Their Eyes [+see also:
