NonStop and Submarine open documentary-centric label
- NonStop Submarine will annually distribute around 15 titles in the Nordic countries, the Baltics and Benelux
Stockholm-based NonStop Entertainment and Amsterdam’s Submarine have launched NonStop Submarine, a new, documentary-centric label, which will release around 15 titles annually in the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden), the Baltics (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) and Benelux (the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg).
“We’re delighted that one of the first steps we are taking as a newly reborn independent player is to solidify our relationship with Submarine, one of the world’s most prominent documentary crews,” said Jakob Abrahamsson, CEO of NonStop Entertainment, who last year orchestrated a management buy-out of the company from Time Warner’s Turner Broadcasting System with its original co-founder, CG Andersson.
“Scandinavian audiences are amongst the most sophisticated in the world – and they’re doc-crazy. We look forward to supplying great films, stories and human voices from around the world, by great directors, as we help to expand the doc market in Scandinavia and worldwide with NonStop,” added Submarine’s David Koh, Dan Braun and Josh Braun, who have already collaborated with the Nordic and Baltic distributor on the release of 15 documentaries.
The first line-up includes such films as Paris-born director-producer Lisa Immordino Vreeland’s Peggy Guggenheim: Art Addict, British filmmaker Jessica Edwards’ Mavis!, US directors Richard Dewey and Timothy Marrinan’s Chris Burden: Double Bind, David T Friendly and Mick Partridge’s Sneakerheadz, and Michael Beach Nichols and Christopher K Walker’s Welcome to Leith. NonStop Submarine will work both theatrically and across all digital, DVD, TV and streaming platforms in the 11 countries.
