The 200-million-annual-admissions mark is in sight in France
- French theatres recorded 180.86 million viewers from January to the end of November
Despite the chilling events that have recently hit Paris hard, November saw a third consecutive month of increases in theatrical attendance levels in France compared to 2014 figures, with a rise of 1.2%. With these 17.42 million additional viewers, the 2015 running total, from 1 January to 30 November, stands at 180.86 million admissions, a total that is down by 3.2% compared to the same period in 2014. Nevertheless, in all likelihood, this still won’t stop French cinemas from smashing through the 200-million-annual-viewers mark for the sixth time in the last decade.
In terms of market share, French films currently stand at 35.2% in 2015, with US productions at 53.7% and features from the rest of the world at 11.1%.
It is interesting to note some of the best box-office performances from November: namely, the immense success of French comedy Les nouvelles aventures d’Aladin [+see also:
