MRP - Matila & Rohr Productions is to produce Finland’s first-ever wholly animated feature film, entitled Röllin sydan, a fairy tale set in the land of the Trolls.
This film is the prequel of Olli Saarela’s live action feature, Rölli ja metsänhenki, a huge domestic hit in 2001 with over 340,000 tickets sold and outperforming US blockbuster, Harry Potter. Röllin sydan already exists in videogames format.
The film was written by its two producers, Marko Röhr and Ilkka YL Matila who said that it will be made in the 3D format, using local resources or European partners whose identity will be revealed further down the line. The budget is estimated at between Euros5m and Euros7m and the film is scheduled for release at Christmas 2005.
