29/02/2016 - There have been new appointments at Nordic majors Nordisk Film, Svensk Filmindustri and the Swedish Film Institute

“More and more film and TV successes are based on bestsellers, and we are therefore interested in acquiring rights,” said Lone Korslund, head of Nordic co-production and acquisition at Denmark’s Nordisk Film. The Danish major, which operates in all Nordic countries, has accordingly signed Danish publisher Julie Løvgren as its book scout. Løvgren, who has been head of acquisitions/Nordic book rights with Swedish major Svensk Filmindustri, will now work with agents, publishers, authors, and internal and external partners to acquire film and TV rights for Nordisk. 

With a Master in Publishing from the University of Stockholm, she has previously been employed by Danish publishing house People’s Press and Swedish literary agency Partners in Stories. “We will now be focusing even more on signing for the best Scandinavian literary rights both for film and for TV,” Løvgren explained.

Also carrying out activities all over Scandinavia, Svensk Filmindustri has appointed Pia Grünler – most recently market director at Nordisk Film for nine years – as Nordic head of theatrical, with overall responsibility for the company’s Nordic theatrical operations; on a more basic level, she is head of the local distribution team. Grünler, who has held various sales and marketing positions in theatrical as well as home entertainment distribution, will start her new job in April, reporting to chief sales and distribution officer Antti Toiviainen. “The many progressive plans and interesting projects on an international level were also a reason for me to join,” Grünler said.

Lastly, the Swedish Film Institute has named Kristina Colliander head of production support. Together with the International and Distribution/Exhibition departments, she will work on the institute’s film funding under the direction of Kristina Börjeson. A former producer and programme director with Swedish pubcaster SVT, Colliander has most recently been deputy director at the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.
