EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs) mourns the loss of president Alan Fountain.

Fountain initially joined the professional training, project development and networking organisation for audiovisual producers in 2000, and has since then actively served in several positions from head of studies to president.  He worked with over 1000 participants – from every corner of Europe as well as many from the rest of the world – doubtlessly changing their careers and affecting their professional lives.

Fountain was one of the most influential figures in the media world; during his professional career he worked in the UK with Middlesex University, Mondial Television & Mondial Online, Sheffield Hallam University, Channel 4 Television and the Sheffield International Documentary Film Festival. He was also the author of various articles on film and media related issues, on the future of public service television and, as co-editor, The Alternative Media Handbook (Routledge, 2008).

His rich and varied career was dedicated to supporting independent voices from different regions of the world, empowering and encouraging producers, directors and writers to tell stories that not only affect audiences but create positive change.

A unique professional, Fountain contributed greatly to EAVE's growth, strength and excellence in the last 16 years.
