and From the Land of the Moon – read the news), the story revolves around Samia (Sarra Hannachi), a young woman who arrives in France under cover, following the Tunisian Revolution. Obsessed with the idea of being caught by her Islamist brother whom she informed on, first of all she finds refuge at Imed’s house, an acquaintance from her village, and then at Christine’s (Hiam Abbass) place, the woman she works for. With Christine and all these new insights surrounding her, a blend of desire and fear heightens the tension and trips her up on her path to freedom.

Produced by Dominique Besnehard and Michel Feller for Mon Voisin Productions, Corps étranger is being co-produced by Tunisian outfit Nomadis Images and by Rhône-Alpes Cinéma. Having been pre-purchased by Ciné+ and TV5 Monde, the feature is also benefiting from support from the CNC’s advance on receipts, the Palatine Etoile sofica and the Tunisian CNC.
