Austria’s Secretary of State for the Arts, Franz Morak has appointed the Belgrade Film Festival and Film Institute’s Miroljub Vuckovic as the new artistic director of the Diagonale Film Festival. Former ATV chief, Tillman Fuchs is the new business affairs manager.
The news of the appointments was poorly received by Hans Hurch, the director of the Viennale, who in a statement to Austria’s APA news agency, picked up by, called Morak’s decision “undemocratic”. He added that adding they would have “negative effects of the Austrian film industry.”
