22/03/2016 - Principal photography is due to commence in England this spring

British production company Scoop Films has announced that Greg Wise (Effie Gray) and Alice Sykes (television’s Cradle to Grave) will be the leads in After Louise, to be directed by Danny and David Scheinmann (Believe), from a script by Michael Müller (The Beat Beneath My Feet [+see also:
trailer
film profile]). Sykes will play Kath, a shy young woman who befriends Bob (Wise) the reclusive gardener at a seaside hotel where she’s getting married. She realises she’s made the mistake of her life and drives off, accidentally kidnapping Bob in the process. 

Scoop Films’ head of development, Fiona Gillies, said, “We are absolutely delighted that Greg and Alice have joined the After Louise team. Greg will bring a wealth of experience as well as humour and integrity to the lead role of Bob. Fresh from his work on the forthcoming Netflix drama The Crown, Greg is an actor who isn’t afraid of tackling complexity. And we are excited to have found such a promising rising talent in Alice to play the vulnerable but determined Kath. We are confident that Greg and Alice will forge a meaningful and engaging on-screen relationship that will entertain audiences all over the world.”

The film is currently in pre-production and will commence principal photography on location in England this spring. Gillies, Müller and Raj Sharma will produce for Scoop. 

Scoop’s last production, The Beat Beneath My Feet, directed by John Williams (The Magic Hour), received considerable festival play and was nominated for Best UK Feature at the 2014 Raindance Film Festival, for the Raindance Award at the 2014 British Independent Film Awards and for a Crystal Bear at the 2015 Berlinale.
