Theatre siege filmed
Journalist Michael Lerner has written an initial treatment for a film about the four-day siege of Moscow’s Dubrovka Theatre by armed Chechen rebels in October 2002. The Czech Republic’s Ivan Zacharias is to direct the English-language film that will be produced by the UK’s Matthew Stillman through his Stillking Productions.
The siege ended with Russian Special Forces assaulted the theatre with sleeping gas, killing 41 rebels and freeing nearly 130 members of the audience.
