Based on the novel of the same name by Jonathan M Ledgard, the contemporary love story is about an engineer who falls in love with a biomathematician before he heads off to Somalia to work on a water supply project. When he is kidnapped by jihadists, he has no way of getting in touch with her. Meanwhile, she is wondering about this lack of communication and has trouble concentrating on her own mission in the Arctic Ocean, where she is conducting research on how the destruction of seamounts might lead to a scarcity of oxygen on Earth.
