NOWAVE: New SVoD platform to be launched in France and the UK

SVoD market growth in Europe is estimated to hit 50% by 2020, thus revealing the potential of this fast-growing OTT delivery service. As such, on 30 June 2016, NOWAVE, a new French SVoD platform dedicated to cinema, will be launched in France and the UK, thus becoming the first French SVoD service to be exported internationally, as announced during the Cannes Film Festival.

NOWAVE is a start-up, based in Toulouse, founded by film production professional Bérengère Dastarac-Waked (whose previous works include Winter of Discontent [+see also:

). The main concept and selling point of the company is the originality of its film selection – the films will be released under an original monthly theme, hand-picked by professionals in art and fashion, authors, chefs, journalists, international news reporters and others, in order to show different visions of films that inspire and have an impact. Some of the titles will be rare or will not have been released theatrically, but rather were featured at the most highly renowned festivals. NOWAVE's ambition is to develop gradually and cover 140 countries by 2022 – an impressive step towards the international promotion and distribution of arthouse film.
