Embrace of the Serpent sweeps the Platino Awards
- The third edition of the awards gave seven trophies to the stunning film by Colombia’s Ciro Guerra

Last night, the tourist paradise that is Punta del Este, Uruguay, served as the backdrop for the awards ceremony for the third Platino Awards, created by FIPCA (the Latin American Association of Film and Audiovisual Producers) and EGEDA (the Audiovisual Producers’ Rights Management Association). The undeniable victor of the evening was Embrace of the Serpent, directed by Ciro Guerra, which, in addition to snagging Best Latin American Fiction Film (it is a production between Colombia, Venezuela and Argentina), came out on top in the categories of Best Director, Best Original Music, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Sound and Best Art Direction.
Argentina’s Guillermo Francella took home the 2016 Platino Award for Best Actor for the co-production between his home country and Spain (via El Deseo) The Clan [+see also:
