Crime wave hits London

- The BFI celebrates the centenaries of two of Europe's foremost "criminal" minds, Georges Simenon and Jean-Pierre Melville, with the screening of some of their films at the 4th Crime Scene Festival

Fans of the crime film genre will be delighted to learn that the British Film Institute (BFI) is holding their 4th Crime Scene Festival on 10-13 July 2003.
This year's event will celebrate the centenary of the births of the legendary Belgian novelist and creator of Inspector Maigret, Georges Simenon and also of French noir filmmaker Jean-Pierre Melville (Lèon Morin - 1961, Le Doulos - 1961 and Bob le Flambeur - 1955). The opening film is the UK premiere of Michael Apted's Always Outnumbered starring Laurence Fishburne as Socrates Fortlow, the character created by US crime novelist Walter Mosley who will take part in a Q&A session afterwards.
