Summer in Brussels
An original and eclectic selection of films will contribute to making the hot weeks of summer in the Belgian capital more bearable. A review entitled Total Screen was created as a European alternative to Hollywood’s dominance of the film market. The event will run in Brussels from 2 July to 2 September 2003.
The programme includes more than 60 titles, ranging from classics to the Belgian premieres of contemporary films, all of which will screen in the Arenberg-Galeries’ two theatres. Filmgoers will delight is seeing unforgettable films like Billy Wilder’s The Apartment, John Cassavetes’ Love Streams and Martin Scorsese’s Mean Streets, as well as more recent titles like Jia Zhang-Ke’s Ren Xiao Yao/Unknown Pleasures, La Vie Nouvelle by Philippe Grandrieux, La Raison du plus fort by Patric Jean, La Légende de la forêt by Osamu Tezuka, Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders from Mars by D.A. Pennebaker and Les Guerriers de la beauté by Pierre Coulibeuf. Total Screen also includes five major reviews dedicated to Hong Sant-soo, Lauren Bacall, Pier Paolo Pasolini, African cinema and Cinema and Jazz.
