Rogard to head up SACD
A new job for the experienced and highly committed lobbyist and defender of rights, Pascal Rogard. On Thursday 19 June, the board of administration of SACD (the Authors’ and Composers’ Guild) appointed him to the post of director general. He succeeds Olivier Carmet.
Rogard served as the delegate general of ARP (Writers- Directors-Producers) in 1989. He began his professional career in 1973 at the Orange Theatre and in 1981, was appointed secretary general of the French film producers’ and exporters’ guild. Later that year, Rogard was also admitted to CICEE (the European and extra-European Community’s Committee for Film and Audiovisual Industries).
Thanks to his distinctive and incisive style, Rogard developed into a key promoter of the French film industry and was invited to join the boards of several entertainment industry organisations. Appointed at just 54 years of age to the top job at SACD, Pascal Rogard is taking another significant step up in an already remarkable career.
For the first time in its history, SACD appointed a woman to its presidency. She is actress (TV and cinema) and screenwriter Christine Miller. The other board members for the 2003-2004 mandate include director, Jacques Deray (deputy-president for Cinema), Caroline Huppert (deputy-president Television), Jacques Fansten and Francis Girod will have responsibility for cinema and Jean-Louis Lorenzi for television. The board also numbers three distinguished television writers, Joëlle Goron, Nicole Jamet and Alain Scoff.
