Whilst Genevan director Andreas Fontana (nominated for the Swiss Film Awards in 2016 for his film Pedro M, 1981), who trained in Buenos Aires and Lausanne, will be attending the Festival with his latest film Azor, one of the sixteen projects selected to compete for one of the three prizes up for grabs at the Europe-Latin America Co-production Forum of the 64^th San Sebastián Film Festival to support a big film in the making, Arami Ullón, a Paraguayan filmmaker who lives in Basel (director of acclaimed documentary El tiempo nublado [+see also:

The story at the heart of the project, which is based on the grandfather of the director himself, recounts the journey of a Swiss banker in Argentina under its 1980s dictatorship. His mission? Reassuring the precious clients of his brother-in-law, who disappeared a few days previously. How can he come to terms with his paranoia and fear without losing the cold-hearted indifference and pragmatism that so characterise his profession? Arami Ullón will instead be attending San Sebastián with his new project Me fui sin mirarte de cerca, produced by Swiss producer Pascal Traeschlin of Cineworx Filmproduktion. The film focuses on the complex meaning of identity and the feeling of belonging to your homeland. For its development, the film received grants and funding from a number of European institutions: Media Swiss Desk, Fachausschuss Audiovision/Multimedia and Zürcher Filmstiftung, and also received support from the Secretaría Nacional de Cultura del Paraguay.
