They began with the Special Jury Prize and the Silver Shell for Best Actress for Marian Alvarez at San Sebastián in 2013, which were followed by two EFA nominations and two Goya awards, those for Best Actress and Best New Director. The shoot is currently underway in the Basque country and is set to continue in Seville at a later date. Morir follows the lives of Luis, a man who hates change, and Marta, a radiant and spirited woman, during a time in which their worlds are turned upside down by the outbreak of an illness that brings with it guilt, lies and fear. Suddenly, the tension the situation causes results in stability and affection between the couple.
Morir is produced by Basque company Kowalski Films (which served as co-producer for Cuerpo de élite [+see also:

film profile] – a film that has already enchanted over one million cinemagoers in Spain) and Andalusian outfit Ferdydurke Films. The film has received support from the ICAA, the Basque Government, the Regional Government of Andalusia, ETB, Canal Sur, Movistar Plus+, and the Provincial Council of Biscay.
With this film, Franco sets out, once again, to explore the human psyche, but this time using the story of a couple put to the test by circumstance. He has chosen not to surround his protagonists with urban confines with his second film, but, rather, with the openness of nature, to be captured on film by the masterful DOP, Santiago Racaj, who worked on Jonas Treuba’s The Reconquest [+see also:
