FESTIVALS UK

CineMagic is 14

by

Established in 1989, CineMagic has gradually attained the enviable status of the UK’s biggest international festival for children’s and young people’s films. It is also the won that receives the most domestic and international media coverage, especially TV – reports from the 2002 edition reached some 8 million viewers.
A call for entries is currently underway for the 14th edition, scheduled to run 4-14 December 2003 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, with a 31 July deadline. There are two competitive sections: best feature and short for a teen audience – decided on by a jury of people aged 14+ and another for younger children, with a jury of 8-to-12-year-olds.
All styles and formats are welcome, as long as the films are kiddie orientated and were produced between 2001 and 2003. English-language VHS copies (or with English subtitles) should be sent to the head of programming, Nick Fulcher at CineMagic, 3rd Floor, Fountain House, Belfast, BT1-5AB. Or contact the organisers direct on Tel: 028 90 311900 Fax: 028 90 319709 or email info@cinemagic.org.uk.
