Written by the director, the screenplay (which was developed as part of the Script Teast programme is made up of three stories which explore the notion of family: a woman in her late thirties rediscovers the faith she lost as a child; a mother goes to extremes to ensure that her daughter escapes the fate she was forced to endure; and a Roma boy’s family are killed and the perfect world of his childhood is destroyed. All three stories are linked together by chance, and meetings that change the lives of the characters.

Produced by Andrea Taschler (awarded Producer on the Move 2013 by European Film Promotion) for Mirage Film and Gabor Ferenczy for Focus-Fox, Genesis is being supported by the Hungarian National Film Fund. The seven weeks of filming will take place in Hungary between now and the end of the year with Tamas Dobos as director of photography.
