24/03/2017 - New prizes to be given at the co-production markets of San Sebastian Film Festival, Transilvania International Film Festival and Cartoon Movie

As part of its promotional activities aimed at fostering cinematographic coproductions from the initial stages of a project, the Eurimages Fund decided to create three new Co-production Development prizes which will be awarded in the co-production markets of San Sebastian Film Festival, Transilvania International Film Festival and Cartoon Movie.

These three prizes amounting to 20,000 each will be awarded to projects designed from the outset as international co-productions for cinema release. Projects should be initiated by a lead producer based in a Eurimages country willing to cooperate with other partners internationally. The lead producer should aim to involve at least one other producer from a Eurimages country. The award, which takes the form of a nonreimbursable subsidy, must be used by the producers to cover development expenses of the project.

To be eligible, projects must be selected by Cartoon Movie, the Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum of San Sebastian Film Festival and the Transilvania Pitch Stop (TPS) initiative of the Transilvania International Film Festival in Romania.

The Eurimages Co-production Development Award is currently presented in the coproduction of the Rotterdam, Berlin, Copenhagen (CPH:DOX, €15,000 for documentaries), Sarajevo, Rome, Amsterdam (Cinekid) and Tallinn (Baltic Event) film festivals.
