- The ANCC aims to connect industry professionals from Europe and the Western Balkans during the first BFM
The Albanian National Center of Cinematography (ANCC) is launching the first edition of the Balkan Film Market (BFM), which aims to connect film and industry professionals from around Europe and the countries of the Western Balkans. The market will be held from 2-7 October in Tirana and is supported by Eurimages.
Apart from becoming an important industry event, the BFM also intends to be a meeting point that will further promote cooperation between professionals in a rich and dense region that is yet to be discovered. According to the provisional schedule, some of the events include a discussion by the MEDIA desks of the Western Balkans, under the Creative Europe initiative, a pitching session for minority co-production projects from the Balkans, and meetings with the leading public and private European and Balkan audiovisual institutions.
The Balkan Film Market is being organised as part of activities to mark the 20th anniversary of the Albanian National Center of Cinematography. It is worth noting that over these past two decades, the ANCC has funded or co-funded the production of 285 features, shorts, documentaries and animated films. Further details on the participants and the events at the first BFM, as well as confirmation of the schedule, will be announced soon.
