Be a distributor or exhibitor
Starting next term, a number of new courses will be added to those already available at France’s world famous The
Femis film and audiovisual school: a 16-month-long course about how to become either a distributor or exhibitor.
The Femis is where future Gallic filmmaking talents learn their craft in seven categories of classes: direction, sound, pictures, editing, set design, production and screenwriting. All of these professions have become more complicated in recent years and familiarity with artistic and financial aspects, distribution and exhibition are considered essential. The courses are organised as follows: one term is dedicated to creativity in film, two to specialisations and a further two terms to apprenticeships in companies. Ten students under 27 will be selected for the first course: they must either be high school graduates or professionals (in which case the age limit is 30 plus at least 4 years’ professional experience) and the enrolment deadline is 18 July.
The decision to set up a new course for exhibitors and distributors was made by the head teacher of Femis, Marc Nicolas, with support from the CNC.
