The state of theatrical exhibition
On 3 July, the Europa Cinema in Rome will host the General Meeting of Italy’s theatrical exhibitors. Organised by ANEC (the Italian film exhibitors’ association), the meeting is an opportunity to discuss a number of important issues like distribution in “weaker” circuits, print copies, audiovisual piracy, rentals, rolling year-long film releases and inherent promotional policies. The aim of the meeting is to give all of the country’s theatrical exhibitors a platform where they can voice their growing concern at the direction the industry has taken.
As a way of creating awareness, those film theatres that belong to Anec will cut the cost of tickets to just Euros2 for the day.
