PACA starts work
A new support fund for regional film and audiovisual production in Provence-The French Alps and Côte d’Azur regions, aka PACA was launched in style with funding announced for seven features, one documentary and a film-for-TV. The projects will share Euros847,000 of the Euros1.5m annual budge for 2003.
Set up on 19 December 2002 after intense lobbying by the Marseille-born film director Robert Guédiguian, PACA is scheduled to extend its support to local writers and project development.
At its first meeting in June, PACA assigned a total of Euros847,000, Euros760,000 of which went to seven films: La Trahison by Philippe Faucon (produced by Kinok Films), Adieu Judas by Thierry Aguila (Louka Films) and Riviera by Anna Villacèque (Natan Productions) each of which received Euros120,000.
Les Baumettes by Gabriel Julien-Laferrère (Ognons Pictures), Je suis un assassin by Thomas Vincent (Fidélité Production), Qui a dit que nous étions morts by Robin Renucci (Comic Strip Productions) and L’oeil de l’autre by John Lvoff (Pierre Grise Productions) each received Euros100,000.
The PACA commission also assigned a further Euros60,000 to a documentary feature entitled La ballade des jeunes hommes tristes by Christine Thoma (Les Films du tambour de la soie) and Euros27,000 to a film-for-TV, Eaux Troubles by Luc Béraud (Télé Images).
