130 films in La Rochelle
In spite of the nationwide protest by Gallic entertainment industry workers that halted all screenings on 1 July, the 31st edition of the La Rochelle International Film Festival went ahead regardless. This non-competitive cinematographic full immersion opened its doors to the public on 26 June and will end on 7 July and the programme includes tributes to local talents, Nicolas Philibert ( Essere e Avere) and Isabelle Huppert, as well as Norways Anja Breien, Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau and Guy Gilles. film profile] will have its French premiere and one of the 25 titles selected for the “The World as it is” section is Michael Haneke’s Le temps du loup.
The focus this year was on Germany cinema with a review of 16 films produced since 2000 by the still little-known exponents of the new wave of Teutonic directors like Christian Petzold, Henner Winckler, Ulrich Kölhher and Andreas Dresen.
