Daniel Ducarme, the new minister for culture announced he was setting up a new film production fund called Bruxellimage. According to an article in today’s edition of national daily, “Le Soir”, the aim is to encourage audiovisual production in the Belgian capital and it is based on Wallimage (set up three years ago in Mons and directly responsible for a significant increase in film and audiovisual productions choosing Walloon as their location). The Wallimage model can also access resources for scientific research.
“I am determined to bring various specialist companies and industry operators – directors, producers, distributors and exhibitors - under a single umbrella,” said the minister. “I would also like to add educational institutions.” Ducarme will officially launch the new fund tomorrow, 9 July, during a meeting with three leading Belgian film industry exponents, director Luc Dardenne, producer Patrick Quinet and distributor Eliane du Bois.
