Bruxellimage starts work
The Belgian capital’s brand new investment fund, Bruxellimage, that was set up by the new minister for the arts Daniel Ducarme, based on Wallimage is taking its first tentative steps. The Bruxellimage board met yesterday, 9 July, and set up three workgroups.
The first is headed up by Peggy Heuze (Vendôme Cinema, Brussels) and Jean-Marie Herman (Le Parc and Churchill Cinemas in Lièges) will set up a network of arthouse film theatres.
The second will deal with funding to integrate Bruxellimage into the Belgian system and is directed by director-producer Luc Dardenne and producer Patrick Quinet. The main goal of the second workgroup is to harmonize Bruxellimage with Belgian tax shelters.
The third group is charged with beefing up the Brussels’ European Film Festival, and it will transform as the EU enlarges. In a pre-emptive move, Dominique Janne, the festival’s artistic director will work in close contact with a group of experts headed by director Jean-Jacques Andrien.
Minister Ducarme hopes that the professionals he appointed will present him, and the government, with a valid set of projects right after the summer holidays.
