The Academy has changed the rules regarding submissions to the best foreign film Oscar category. The 87 countries eligible to take part now have until 1 October to enter their films and must have sent them to Hollywood no later than 15 October. Only films that were released in their respective countries of origin for at least two weeks from 1 November 2002 to 30 September 2003 can compete.
The 2004 Oscar nominations will be announced on 27 January 2004 and the Big Night is scheduled for 29 February at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
