Tomorrow’s talents
To discover the directors of the future and give them an opportunity to make a small-budget digital film. That is the goal behind a new drama workshop that was set up by the Vlaams Audiovisuel Fonds (VAF). Pierre Drouot, the producer of Jaco Van Dormael’s Toto le Héros and Harry Kümel’s Daughters of Darkness, was asked to head the workshop.
His work consists in recognising and encouraging young filmmakking talent and he will begin this autumn by giving a number of young directors the chance to produce their projects using the workshop’s facilities. The deadline for those wishing to take part is 15 August. After that date a jury of experts like Stijn Coninx, Vincent Bal, Michel Apers and Isabelle Molhant will select between six and eight candidates. The workshop is scheduled to become operational in September and will run for a ten-month period.
