27/02/2018 - The industry section of the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival has unveiled all of its sections, which will aim to pique the interest of international and local professionals

The 20^th Thessaloniki Documentary Festival’s (2-11 March) parallel industry event, the International Doc Market, has announced the selection for its 19^th edition. Running from 4-10 March at Thessaloniki’s Port Warehouse C, the Doc Market will welcome close to 80 buyers and 140 industry professionals, who will have the chance to attend a series of events and special sections that cover all aspects of production, focusing on South-Eastern Europe, the Balkans and the Mediterranean, while the video library will give them access to approximately 490 documentaries. The TDF’s Doc Market is supported by Creative Europe – MEDIA.

Continuing its collaboration with the European Documentary Network (EDN), which started back in 2001, the Doc Market is hosting the 18^th EDN Docs in Thessaloniki – Pitching Forum from 2-6 March. The forum, which is divided into two sessions, gives documentary professionals a chance to present their upcoming projects to a selected panel of international financiers, commissioning editors and representatives of various international audiovisual media. The first three days have been set aside for the training of the participants, who will pitch their projects on 5 and 6 March. After the end of the Pitching Forum, on 6 March, a dedicated panel on building an audience from an early stage will be led by Gruvi CEO Ben Johnson. The Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation (ERT SA) will also bestow the ERT Doc on Air Award to the best team at Docs in Thessaloniki.

The Doc Market’s Docs in Progress (7 March) will for the seventh consecutive year present a selection of ten documentary projects that are currently in post-production and will be screened to a limited number of invited industry professionals, sales agents, distributors, producers and festival representatives. Hailing from Central Europe, the Balkans and the Mediterranean region, the projects will be competing for the main €15,000 post-production award provided by 2|35 Inc Post-Production House. The winners will be selected by the international jury comprising Laia Aubia, DocsBarcelona distribution manager; Charlotte Madsen, buyer at Sweden’s pubcaster SVT; and Takis Veremis, distributor at StraDA Films.

Finally, the Moving Docs conference will be held for the first time during the TDF’s Doc Market, from 8-10 March. Combining live screenings and event cinema with innovative online distribution, Moving Docs gives film professionals the chance to cross borders and reach new audiences in over 20 territories. Moving Docs is an initiative managed by EDN and supported by Creative Europe.
